Background
Wood Anemone Nemorosa, Dwarf Early Spring Flowering Top Quality Freshly Lifted Rhizomes.
Wood Anemone Nemorosa is a plant in the genus of Anemones and in the family Ranunculaceae,
Common names include wood anemone, windflower, thimbleweed, lady’s nightcap, moonflower and smell fox.
Appearance

This fabulous pretty flower is a well deserved recipient of the RHS Award of Garden Merit,  Very popular with many gardeners.

An allusion to the smell of the leaves. It is a dwarf perennial herbaceous fast growing plant height up to the height of 20 centimetres tall.

The plants start blooming soon after the foliage emerges from the ground. The leaves are divided into three segments and the flowers produced on a short stem and held above the foliage with one flower per stem that is sometimes flushed with pink underneath.

They grow from underground root-like stems called rhizomes and the foliage dies back down by mid summer (summer dormant).

Uses

The rhizomes spread just below the soil surface, forming continuous fibrous rhizomatous or tuberous rootstocks relying on the growth of its root structure rather than the spread of its seed.

Very prolific contributing to its rapid spread in woodland conditions, there they often carpet large areas.

The flower is 2 centimetres in diameter, with six or seven petals and on rare occasions eight to ten petals with many stamens.
