  1. Always plan ahead!

A little organisation never does any harm, so why not make lists or draw up plans of how you want your garden to look? Being efficient is key in the success of your garden!

  1. Chose the correct plants for your soil.

Before you purchase any plants from Woodland Bulbs, ensure you check your soil type: is it light, sandy, heavy or clay? Plants will thrive better in one type than others.

  1. Say Goodbye to weeds.

You’ll soon learn weeds are your biggest enemies, so avoid these as much as you can by aggressively removing them from their roots on a regular basis. See you later weeds!

  1. Start with the simpler plants.

There’s no need to dive into the deep end when it comes to gardening, simply start with simple and reliable bulbs to help you get to grips. Vegetables are a great and easy way to start off!

  1. It’s all about space.

It can be tempting to overpopulate your garden beds with flowers when creating displays, but be careful to not crowd your bulbs too close to one another. They may not survive, or will need much more frequent watering and fertiliser.

  1. Be gentle!

Getting that gardener touch can take some grafting, but in the meantime make sure you’re removing plants from their pots upside down and you aren’t removing them by their stems.  Treat your plants like your baby!

  1. Relax and have fun!

Gardening should be a hobby- not a chore! So relax, don’t worry and start to see it as the laid-back leisurely activity that it is. Happy gardening!
