Galanthus Nivalis, “Flore Pleno” is the best-known and most widespread of the 20 species in its genus.
Double Snowdrops will produce incredibly attractive ruffled white blooms with emerald-green stems. They are among the first bulbs to bloom in winter-spring, and will form impressive carpets of white in areas where they are native or have been naturalized. This beautiful flower is also a well-deserved recipient of the RHS Award of Garden Merit.

Light Requirements: | Partially shaded or full sun, snowdrops grow almost anywhere. They will always prefer partially shaded areas for the best results, its not a must but this will produce a longer flowering time, with better growth and spread very easy to grow. |
Flower colour: | will produce incredibly attractive Ruffled white blooms and emerald-green stems, they will cover areas with a mass of nodding white heads. Very popular with many gardeners the first sign of spring. |
Growth Rate: | Medium Height/Habit: 6-12″ : Will grow in large clumps over time depending on how many snowdrops are planted out in groups. Impressively multiples every year. very easily managed and a pleasure to work with. Lift split and divide the snowdrop clumps if they become to dence, then simply replant where you desire. |
Planting Instructions: | 2-3″ deep, and 4-6″ apart. Ideally in groups of at least ten or more bulbs, or what suits you and your garden requirements, we would recommend planting in bunches of 25. Great for flower beds and borders, patio tubs & pots, rockery gardens, excellent for lawn & woodland planting incredible naturalisers, try planting in bold drifts snowdrops have a clump forming habit. |
Soil Requirements: | Well drained, moderately fertile, Moist but well-drained. Will Tolerate: Clay, Sandy, Loamy, Peat, will grow almost anywhere. |
Avoid planting: | in areas where the soil dries out a lot in the summer months, this is another reason why snowdrops prefer partially shaded areas. |

Seed production: | After the snowdrop blooms have finished seed pods will form where the flower once was, to allow seed production and healthy bulbs that flower the following year, please allow the seed pods to drop off and the leaves to wither and turn brown before removing them. The green leaves provide vital nourishment for the bulbs. And must be allowed to die back naturally. |
